2024 to 2025: Brief reflections and looking forward

looking back -

As I ease in the the New Year I feel like I have been barely able to catch my breath from 2024. I will not go into a super long post about last year other than to say thank you to every single person who helped me with hosting/attending shows, a bed, and meals while on tour. Doing the DIY tour can be a grind but through the generosity of all of those who were involved I was able to pull it off with first time runs in the Midwest, Northwest, Europe, and the U.K. so THANK YOU!

Secondly, having my biggest most important album to me - All Of the Colours Are Singing - come out was both an exciting and terrifying experience. Doing a record like this while working a 16 credit/semester doctorate schedule might have been a little more than I could chew but I made it through and tried to not hold too many big expectations other than just be super proud of the work. The cherry -- It was heart warming to receive so many positive messages from people who listening as well as connect face to face during the October tour.

Looking ahead this year is going to be very different with many things up in the air. I do not have any records slated for release for the first time in 7 years, though I am working on one atm that is taking a lot of time to create. I am practicing patience with the music though, it will be my first fully pre-composed solo guitar record so it is taking a lot of time and effort.

My doctoral coursework and graduate assistant job come to a close in the Spring and what that means in terms what I do next -- I do not know -- but I am trying to be open to everything that could possibly come my way. Some things that are certain are a second Midwest run this March, an Upstate New York exhibition I am doing the sound design this summer, and another U.K. tour in the Fall. All announcements will come for those soon!

And lastly, I haven't shared much of my Arctic Circle Residency on my website because I wanted to do a more in-depth post with projects I have been working on post-residency. But in the meantime, here is a video of walruses basking on the beach shot with my mid-2000's Panasonic quick pix camera.
